WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN PAIN MANAGEMENT?

I chose pain management because I value building long-term relationships with patients and being able to improve their long-term functionality via interventional procedures, medications, and other behavioral therapies. It is a field that is being revolutionized by advancements by Neuromodulation and Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, so there is much to learn and offer patients.

The amount of support we receive from the nurses and ancillary support staff. Everyone is such an integral part of this practice. I really appreciate how everyone is so valued and consequently people in the practice do their job with such dedication and compassion.

Yes! Pain requires a lot of patience, compassion, and empathy. I think our field is unique in the sense that there are a variety of new upcoming procedures, interventions, medications, and behavioral therapies that can make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Embracing these multimodal approaches can set someone up well for long-term success in this field.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE NOT WITH ALLIANCE?

I would probably still be a physician practicing anesthesiology, focusing on acute and regional pain. I really enjoy doing procedures.

I’m a people person so I enjoy interacting with people. As a surgery scheduler, my job requires a lot of multi-tasking so it never gets boring.

What is the best compliment you have received from an Alliance colleague?

I’ve been told I have a great personality, and I’m dependable and reliable. When I’m out on PTO my presence is missed because people ask “Where’s Adrienne?”

I’ve also been told that I have a good rapport with the patients. During the check-in & checkout process, I take the time to get to know them and their situations.

Which Alliance Value (Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, & Service) best reflects your quality of work and why?

After 9 years with Alliance, I would like to think that I encompass all of the core values but compassion stands out the most to me, particularly in our field.

To have compassion is to empathize with someone who is suffering and to feel compelled to reduce the suffering. I try to do that with our patients whether it’s a smile, laugh, or joke. I try to make them feel warm and welcome.

What was your first job?

My first job was at 15 years old at Dunkin Donuts in my hometown, Irvington, New Jersey. I was a cashier and I loved it.

I learned at a young age how to make the best coffee and just like here at Alliance, I enjoyed interacting with people.

What are your favorite things to do outside the office?

I love taking family trips to the beach in the spring and summer. My husband and I love long weekend trips to Harrah’s Cherokee or Windcreek Casinos.

What’s a fun fact about yourself that most of your co-workers probably don’t know?

I wanted to be an actress. If you have had any interaction with me on the phone or in person, it wouldn’t be hard to guess! I like to be a little dramatic (in a good way).

Join us in recognizing Adrienne for all she does for our practice and our patients! At Alliance Spine & Pain Centers, we’re leading the way to the future of pain relief with innovative, individualized, evidence-based treatments.

WHICH ALLIANCE VALUE (COMPASSION, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, EXCELLENCE, & SERVICE) BEST REFLECTS YOUR QUALITY OF WORK AND WHY?

There are two values that impact my work day: compassion and integrity. Having compassion for our patients is very important. Being in pain is not fun, and I can relate to that. Also, having integrity for my work is very important to me. I value being honest and keeping my word.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

I was the neighborhood babysitter, which was such a fun job for me. We had a makeshift fort for the kids and me to watch movies, play cards, and tell ghost stories.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?

I love being outside and visiting my favorite park. It has big trees, waterfalls, and long hikes. Being one with nature is such a freeing feeling for me.

WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS DON’T KNOW.

My uncle owned an auto shop that catered to large trucks (16 -18 wheelers). I used to help with changing the tires and oil on them. At first, it was a bit scary. However, after I learned the proper techniques, it became easy for me to do.
