What is your favorite part of working at Alliance?

I’m a people person so I enjoy interacting with people. As a surgery scheduler, my job requires a lot of multi-tasking so it never gets boring.

What is the best compliment you have received from an Alliance colleague?

I’ve been told I have a great personality, and I’m dependable and reliable. When I’m out on PTO my presence is missed because people ask “Where’s Adrienne?”

I’ve also been told that I have a good rapport with the patients. During the check-in & checkout process, I take the time to get to know them and their situations.

Which Alliance Value (Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, & Service) best reflects your quality of work and why?

After 9 years with Alliance, I would like to think that I encompass all of the core values but compassion stands out the most to me, particularly in our field.

To have compassion is to empathize with someone who is suffering and to feel compelled to reduce the suffering. I try to do that with our patients whether it’s a smile, laugh, or joke. I try to make them feel warm and welcome.

What was your first job?

My first job was at 15 years old at Dunkin Donuts in my hometown, Irvington, New Jersey. I was a cashier and I loved it.

I learned at a young age how to make the best coffee and just like here at Alliance, I enjoyed interacting with people.

What are your favorite things to do outside the office?

I love taking family trips to the beach in the spring and summer. My husband and I love long weekend trips to Harrah’s Cherokee or Windcreek Casinos.

What’s a fun fact about yourself that most of your co-workers probably don’t know?

I wanted to be an actress. If you have had any interaction with me on the phone or in person, it wouldn’t be hard to guess! I like to be a little dramatic (in a good way).

Join us in recognizing Adrienne for all she does for our practice and our patients! At Alliance Spine & Pain Centers, we’re leading the way to the future of pain relief with innovative, individualized, evidence-based treatments.

If you’d like to learn more about our pain management services, schedule a consultation or call us at 770-929-9033.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT ALLIANCE?

I know that we are making a difference in our patients’ lives at Alliance. We are giving them hope to be able to live a relatively normal life without pain.

WHAT IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM AN ALLIANCE COLLEAGUE?

The best compliment I have received is praise for my patience with our patients and taking the time to listen to their problems.

WHICH ALLIANCE VALUE (COMPASSION, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, EXCELLENCE, & SERVICE) BEST REFLECTS YOUR QUALITY OF WORK AND WHY?

There are two values that impact my work day: compassion and integrity. Having compassion for our patients is very important. Being in pain is not fun, and I can relate to that. Also, having integrity for my work is very important to me. I value being honest and keeping my word.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

I was the neighborhood babysitter, which was such a fun job for me. We had a makeshift fort for the kids and me to watch movies, play cards, and tell ghost stories.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?

I love being outside and visiting my favorite park. It has big trees, waterfalls, and long hikes. Being one with nature is such a freeing feeling for me.

WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS DON’T KNOW.

My uncle owned an auto shop that catered to large trucks (16 -18 wheelers). I used to help with changing the tires and oil on them. At first, it was a bit scary. However, after I learned the proper techniques, it became easy for me to do.

Michelle Jones

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers Employee Spotlight: Michelle Jones

At Alliance, our employees provide incredible care for our patients and for each other. We are so proud of team members like Michelle Jones, who show exceptional commitment and effort towards our patients and practice.

In this “Employee Spotlight,” get to know Michelle Jones, Front Desk Manager at our Conyers location. Read more below to learn about Michelle!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT ALLIANCE?

My job makes a genuine difference in the quality of life for those suffering in our community. It is so humbling and inspiring seeing patients come in with walkers and wheelchairs, only to see them walk out without assistance and a smile on their face. We change lives for the better, which means the world to me.

WHAT IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM AN ALLIANCE COLLEAGUE?

Compliments do not always have to come in the form of words. They are in laughter and smiles too! Seeing someone beam with joy or laugh with me at a silly moment is something I truly cherish.

WHICH ALLIANCE VALUE BEST REFLECTS YOU?

All of the Alliance Values have huge importance in providing quality care for our patients and making for an enjoyable work experience for everyone. However, integrity best reflects me. At a very young age, my grandfather taught me that work ethic and integrity are what truly defines your character. He emphasized that these characteristics are what people will remember of you, and I’m so thankful my grandfather shared these lessons with me. Being honest and having strong moral principles are guiding beacons in my life.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

Around 13 years old, I had my first two jobs: a goat farmer and industry machine shop worker. What a combo! I would work the farm early in the mornings and at my Grandpa’s machine shop in the afternoons, along with on weekends and school holidays. I also volunteered at the local special needs school during the week.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?

I enjoy swimming, especially in deep ocean waters! I also love football, horror movies, and old school rock/metal music concerts. I am also an avid reader of many genres and a huge nerd that frequents local sci-fi conventions!

WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS DON’T KNOW?

I was born in Texas and grew up in California where I worked with special needs kids for years. Now living in Georgia, I am a proud mom to a special needs kid and active in the #AutismAwareness cause.

Employee spotlight: Cleo Andrews

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers Employee Spotlight: Cleo Andrews

At Alliance, our employees provide incredible care for our patients and for each other. Cleo Andrews is an example of one of our team members whose exceptional commitment and effort make our organization so proud.

In this “Employee Spotlight,” get to know Cleo Andrews, Front Office Manager and Surgical Scheduler, at our Covington location. Read more below to learn about Cleo!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT ALLIANCE?

I enjoy seeing our patients come in with a smile on their face. Also, I’ve had a great experience working at our facility and watching how a treatment plan helps alleviate a patient’s pain.

WHAT IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM AN ALLIANCE COLLEAGUE?

The best compliment I have received is that I have integrity. I like knowing that my colleagues trust that I will do the right thing along with letting them know when I made a mistake, so it can be fixed as soon as possible.

WHICH ALLIANCE VALUE BEST REFLECTS YOU?

Integrity is what I live by in life, and respect is what I give, even when I have an upset patient. Many of my patients have shown appreciation for this philosophy. I treat everyone how I want to be treated.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

I was born and raised in England. When I was growing up there, we finished school at 16. I became a hairdressing apprentice and then went on to become a full stylist. I moved around as a military wife, and we retired here in Covington, Ga. I learned I would have to complete my training again to become a hair stylist here. So, in order to decide what I would pursue next instead of styling hair, I put law enforcement in my left hand and the medical field in my right, and my right hand won.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?

When I have the time, I love to work out. I also like to try out new restaurants

in the Atlanta area.

WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS DON’T KNOW?

I’m actually a big goof! I love to laugh, have fun, and see others do the same.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT ALLIANCE?

I would have to say the family-oriented culture of the company is my favorite part. This quality is not common to find in employers today.

WHAT IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM AN ALLIANCE COLLEAGUE?

“Deneen is one of those rare employees you wished you could clone. She is multi-talented with a strong desire to do great work and she is wildly successful at doing so.”

WHICH ALLIANCE VALUE (COMPASSION, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, EXCELLENCE, & SERVICE) BEST REFLECTS YOUR QUALITY OF WORK AND WHY?

Compassion. For me, it’s not just a job. This field is one I have based my entire life around because I genuinely care that much for others. I put so much of my heart into my patients, and the gratitude, for me, is the most rewarding part of the work.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

I was a waitress at a local Italian restaurant in high school.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?

I enjoy spending time with my family, riding ATVs, and shopping.

WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS DON’T KNOW.

I have a creek and I enjoy spending a lot of time at it even when it’s cold out. It is like a second home to me.

Thank you, Deneen, for taking the time to let us get to know you. Employees like Deneen make Alliance a place where patients receive unrivaled care.

Jena takes pride in each and every interaction with patients and staff. Jena treats others as she would want to be treated. “Nancy is a very experienced nurse who is an integral part of the Douglasville ASC, which bleeds into the Carrollton office and throughout the other centers. Nancy always advocates for her patients and safety, which reassures them that they are our top priority.  Because Nancy is bursting at the seams with 29 years of OR nursing experience, she is a crucial resource to our centers and her knowledge is priceless. Nancy has solid integrity in all her work, which everyone who works with her always notices and is inspired by.

JerMarque is the very best at the job he does. With a wide range of duties for running reports, being on the statement team, assisting and ordering, he wears many hats, but still has time to be a great example to the team he leads. There is never a time that he won’t stop to answer a question, act as a liason to his team’s director, and share his experience and advice. He truly is the best example of excellence and a very snapper dresser too!

SERVICE AWARD

Service Award - Alex Martin

The recipient of the Service Award understands that we are in business ultimately for one reason – to help patients overcome pain. The outstanding Service Award winner is someone who directly touches patients along with someone who serves in a capacity that supports the centers and ultimately, the patient. The Service winner continually seeks to understand the needs of those around them. This person is accountable, friendly, empathetic, customer-focused, consistent, and resourceful.

This year, Alliance’s Alex Martin, an Alliance Facility Maintenance Technician, received the Service Award. Alex has been with Alliance for five and half years.

Here’s why:

“Over the years of working with Alex, I have seen firsthand his commitment to our company by his dedicated actions to provide a quality service in the daily work he performs. Ultimately, his exemplary efforts benefit our patients, employees, and organization as a whole.

Any time you ask Alex for help, he is on it! Not only is he dependable, but he is present with such a respectful and positive attitude that working with him is an absolute pleasure. I have never once heard Alex complain or be negative about his work. In a world where it’s easy to find the wrong in just about anything, Alex chooses to see the bright side. There have been many times where I have heard employees and even myself state that “Alex came and saved the day” or “Alex took care of it.” When needs are identified, his response time is impeccable considering there are 20 various locations across the state and the requests are cumbersome. One would imagine the work he does and the distance involved would be challenging to accomplish all his tasks, but somehow Alex finds a way to be there and get it all done.

Our facilities functioning at top capacity is essential to our business to provide quality care to our patients. From a door working properly, to new equipment and sometimes even major maintenance issues that could potentially close an office, Alex is always there with a smile on his face and the can-do attitude that this organization is truly lucky to have.”

PROVIDER AWARD

Provider Award - Pallavi Gupta, MD

The recipient of this award is the CRNA, mid-level, or physician at Alliance Spine and Pain Centers who most embodies all of our core values as described above. This year, Alliance physician, Dr. Pallavi Gupta, from our Austell and Dallas locations won this award. Dr. Gupta has been with Alliance for five years.

Here’s why:

“Dr. Gupta provides excellent care to her patients. She spends extra time with them and thoroughly reviews their medical history to establish the perfect plan of care for the best patient outcome. She makes procedures and surgeries look simple. Her patients have excellent pain relief. She is always patient with the staff and usually the last person to leave the office. She truly loves what she does and it shows every day.”

CHAIRMAN’S AWARD

Chairman's Award - Samantha Fults

She is a very effective trainer and mentor with great admiration from all of her peers. Samantha is always direct in her communications, but respectful and constructive. She is one of the go-to champions on all things clinic and someone you wish you could clone.”

What is your favorite part of working at Alliance?

My favorite part about working at Alliance is meeting coworkers that have become family, being able to help patients that are in distress and working in my current role.

What is the best compliment you have received from an Alliance colleague?

The best compliment that I have received from an Alliance colleague is an acknowledgement of my dedication, always being a team player, and bringing high morale to the office.

Which Alliance Value (Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, & Service) best reflects your quality of work and why?

The Alliance value that best reflects my quality of work is compassion. I chose compassion because we already have the standard of operating in excellence. However, being in a position to help people, you have to be understanding, patient, and most importantly, compassionate. People will always remember how you treated them. Treating them with compassion is what keeps our patients coming back, and even telling their friends or family about Alliance’s quality care.

What was your first job?

My first job was working at Chick-fil-A where their core values were instilled in me to go above and beyond a person’s expectations.

What are your favorite things to do outside the office?

My favorite thing to do outside of the office is spending time with friends and going to brunch on weekends where there are unlimited mimosas!

What’s a fun fact about yourself that most of your co-workers probably don’t know?

A fun fact about me is that I love line dancing and can sing.

Thank you Christian for sharing a little bit about yourself! We appreciate how employees like you make Alliance a place where patients receive unrivaled care.

Collage of Dr. Will Epps

Medical Staff Spotlight: Dr. Epps Works to Improve His Patients’ Quality of Life

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers provides life-changing pain relief. Our best-in-class physicians help our patients live fuller, more functional, and fulfilling lives.

We believe Alliance is truly the “future of pain relief” because of the excellence, expertise, and dedication of our staff. This series is intended to give our patients a glimpse into the lives of these exceptional people.

Keep reading to learn about Alliance physician, Dr. Will Epps, an interventional pain specialist.

How many years have you been at Alliance Spine and Pain?

I have been practicing pain management care for eight years and have been with Alliance for the last three years. Prior to joining the Alliance team, I was a pain management physician in the US Navy and at a private practice.

Why did you choose to work in the field of pain management?

I chose pain management to help those people dealing with the negative effects of chronic pain in their daily lives. I want to improve their quality of life and enjoyment of the simple things.

What are the key challenges of this field of medicine?

The most challenging part is narrowing down the root cause of my patient’s issues. Pain can be very complex. In some instances, it starts with an obvious injury. However, there are often cases where it’s more insidious and develops over time. It’s my job to identify the cause of the pain and help alleviate the issue.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

An extremely rewarding part of my job is hearing from patients in their follow-up visits after their procedures that their pain was greatly reduced and their lives were significantly improved.

What’s one thing that has surprised you about working at Alliance Spine and Pain?

Despite the large size of the practice, Alliance has not lost focus on the patient as the center of what we do and why we come to work every day.

What are your favorite past times?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my wife, India, our kids, Zoe and Evan, and our dog, Dupree. I also enjoy exercising, home decorating, and recently began collecting art.

Headshot of Dr. Escorcia.

MEDICAL STAFF SPOTLIGHT: DR. EDUARDO ESCORCIA GETS TO THE ROOT OF CHRONIC PAIN

Eduardo Escorcia, who’s been with us for seven years.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN PAIN MANAGEMENT?

The opportunity to help patients with chronic pain at the root of their problems is very appealing to me. When patients get treated for their pain symptoms without regard to its cause, they usually end up being poorly treated. It’s very rewarding and meaningful to help their condition by treating the cause of their problem and not just prescribing opioids to them. Opioids are very well known for their multiple negative side effects and consequences.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES OF THIS FIELD OF MEDICINE?

Insurance coverage of procedures used to treat different pain conditions is very poor, and it’s sad knowing that patients are being denied the services they need to treat their condition. Also, many times patients have more than one condition causing chronic pain, but their insurance only allows treatment of one condition at a time. That can make the treatment less effective.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?

My greatest reward is when a patient can be weaned down from their opioids because their pain is no longer present.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?

My daily routine is very simple. I do procedures in our ambulatory surgery center every day, but I also see patient follow-ups and evaluate new patients in our clinic on a daily basis.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PAST-TIMES?

I love to do sightseeing trips with my family, and I also like to play golf when the weather is nice.

If you or a loved one are having issues with pain management, the experts at Alliance Spine and Pain are here to help you get back to what you love. Give us a call at 770-929-9033 or click here to schedule an appointment.

MEDICAL STAFF SPOTLIGHT: DR. DAVID ROSENFELD USES PAST EXPERIENCES TO HELP HIS PATIENTS

David Rosenfeld, who’s been with us for 10 years.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN PAIN MANAGEMENT?

I had a personal experience with severe pain after surgery during my anesthesiology residency. After that incident, I was inspired to pursue pain management for my speciality.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES OF THIS FIELD OF MEDICINE?

Like all fields of medicine, the increasing control of the care I provide to patients by insurance companies often limits what I’m able to do for my patients. I work hard to ensure everyone is happy with the end results, but it can sometimes be challenging.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?

The ability to improve patients’ lives, especially when I’m able to allow them to be more active and to enjoy life.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PAST-TIMES?

Traveling! Asia is especially my favorite place to visit.

If you or a loved one are having issues with pain management, the experts at Alliance Spine and Pain are here to help you get back to what you love. Give us a call at 770-929-9033 or click here to schedule an appointment.
