Dr. David Rosenfeld of Alliance Spine and Pain Centers Teaches Course in Groundbreaking DRG Procedure

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers remains at the forefront of pain management by demonstrating the latest in best practices. Dr. David Rosenfeld recently did just that while teaching a course in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) therapy at the Medical Education and Research Institute in Memphis, Tenn.

Teaching the class alongside Dr. Rosenfeld was noted Alabama-based physician Dr. Michael Cosgrove. The pair demonstrated the placement of the Proclaim™ DRG Neurostimulator System in the lumbar and sacral spine of a cadaver.

Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) therapy is a non-opioid therapy designed to manage difficult-to-treat chronic pain in specific areas of the lower body, such as the foot, knee, or groin. Pain in those areas is sometimes related to a cluster of nerves called the dorsal root ganglia. The Proclaim™ DRG Neurostimulator System can provide proven therapy to aid in treatment of chronic pain in those areas.

A total of 12 physicians from around the country attended the course, including Dr. Preetesh Patel of Alliance Spine and Pain Centers.

“Having the opportunity to share groundbreaking therapies and procedures with my colleagues is a true honor and privilege,” says Dr. Rosenfeld. “It’s part of Alliance Spine and Pain Centers’ commitment to both our patients and the field.”

Alliance Performs First Interspinous Fixation Device in the State

Dr. David J. Rosenfeld performed the first Inspan Interspinous Fixation Device in Georgia.

As the leaders of the future of pain relief, Alliance Spine and Pain Center is proud to offer groundbreaking pain management treatments. In March 2021, we continued to demonstrate our leadership in the interventional pain management field when Dr. David J. Rosenfeld implanted the first Inspan Interspinous Fixation Device in the state of Georgia.

By treating the underlying problem causing pain, this new interspinous fixation technique is minimally invasive and can provide lasting relief. Inspan opens the spinal canal and the foramen to relieve nerve compression. Then, it decompresses and fixates the facet joints to immobilize them for the bony surfaces to fuse, providing additional nerve compression relief.

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers is excited to offer the Inspan procedures along with many other innovative, integrated, and evidence-based treatments. We are proud of Dr. David Rosenfeld’s efforts to help Alliance continue to offer advanced technology to help relieve our patients’ pain.

Dr. Schaufele was one of the first physicians in the country to perform the Intracept Procedure.

Over six years ago, Alliance’s Dr. Michael Schaufele was one of the first physicians in the country to perform the Intracept Procedure during its early FDA trials. He also co-authored the original paper showing the effectiveness of the procedure.

Once the clinical trials gained FDA approval, pain management facilities could offer the Intracept Procedure as a treatment option. Alliance physician, Dr. David J. Rosenfeld trained this past year to perform it and last month he executed Alliance’s first Intracept Procedure since its FDA approval.

The procedure targets the basivertebral nerve for the relief of low back pain. The procedure is a treatment option for patients who have not responded to conservative therapy, and its benefits include Intracept being minimally invasive, outpatient, implant-free, it preserves the structure of the spine, and it provides durable relief of chronic low back pain. Learn more about Intracept Procedure here.

Alliance Spine and Pain Centers is excited to offer this treatment option. If you have any questions about the Intracept Procedure, Alliance Spine and Pain is here to help. Reach out to any of our pain care specialists by clicking here or by giving us a call at 770-929-9033.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN PAIN MANAGEMENT?

I had a personal experience with severe pain after surgery during my anesthesiology residency. After that incident, I was inspired to pursue pain management for my speciality.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES OF THIS FIELD OF MEDICINE?

Like all fields of medicine, the increasing control of the care I provide to patients by insurance companies often limits what I’m able to do for my patients. I work hard to ensure everyone is happy with the end results, but it can sometimes be challenging.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?

The ability to improve patients’ lives, especially when I’m able to allow them to be more active and to enjoy life.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PAST-TIMES?

Traveling! Asia is especially my favorite place to visit.

Dr. David Rosenfeld Featured on the Atlanta Edition of “American Health Front” with an Alliance Patient

Recently, Alliance’s Dr. David Rosenfeld and one of his patients appeared on WXIA’s Atlanta edition of “American Health Front.” The program is dedicated to educating the public on healthcare technologies. Dr. Rosenfeld explained Spinal Cord Stimulation and Sacroiliac Joint (SI Joint) Fusion, and the patient shared his positive experience from receiving this treatment.

“We seek out the causes of the pain. Then, we stop the pain with innovative, individualized treatment,” says Dr. Rosenfeld. “Two of the most effective treatments that we use are spinal cord stimulation and sacroiliac joint fusion.”

Learn more about these treatments by watching this story on “American Health Front.

Alliance Spine and Pain Center’s team showing up the first to provide the Nalu implant for a patient in the state of Georgia, lead by Dr. David J. Rosenfeld.

Dr. Rosenfeld Provides First Nalu Implant in Georgia

Alliance Spine and Pain Center’s Dr. David J. Rosenfeld was the first to provide the Nalu implant for a patient in the state of Georgia. Traditional neuromodulation SCS systems required for pain management can be bulky, require more invasive surgeries, and additional procedures for battery replacements. The Nalu implant offers the latest, most advanced technologies to provide a tiny, less invasive option for pain relief without having to compromise your lifestyle or clinical benefits.

Check out the photos we captured below to celebrate the medical accomplishment.

Dr. Rosenfeld SpineJack Procedure

Dr. Rosenfeld Is First to Perform New Treatment in Metro Atlanta

Dr. David J. Rosenfeld performed the first SpineJack vertebral augmentation in metro Atlanta this past month! The stryker SpineJack is the first vertebral augmentation procedure to truly allow restoration of vertebral body height after a compression fracture. This new state-of-the-art procedure helps to relieve back pain and loss of mobility (due to pain). The patient for this procedure was treated with a 5mm implant.

Traditionally, osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (VCF) treatment focused mainly on pain management, and overlooked reduction, fixation, and restoration due to the limits of the instrumentation. The new SpineJack system gives the physician more control of the procedure, restores the anatomy, and protects patients from adjacent level fractures.

This news is another example of how Alliance is bringing new hope and real relief to our patients to help them return to fuller, more functional, and fulfilling lives. With innovative interventional pain treatments, our best-in-class physicians are leading the way to the future of pain relief.

Congratulations to Dr. Rosenfeld!
