If you’re dealing with chronic pain, we want you to know that you’re not alone. Our patient success series is intended to share incredible and inspiring stories of our patients overcoming pain. Keep reading to learn about Philip’s journey with pain management with Alliance Spine and Pain Centers.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO ALLIANCE SPINE AND PAIN CENTERS?

After my retirement, I moved to the Atlanta area from Virginia and began to have back issues due to arthritis a few years later. I was recommended to Alliance Spine and Pain where I tried epidurals followed by ablations. With both treatments, I immediately felt relief, but the pain eventually returned.

Dr. Nok Keomahathai recommended a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant. Originally, I was resistant to it, but my wife reminded me of the inconvenience of some of my past pain. I knew I wanted to be productive and continue to do the things I love, which made me willing to give this treatment a try.

TELL US ABOUT THE ALLIANCE PHYSICIAN YOU WORKED WITH

Dr. Nok definitely knows what he’s doing! He has good ideas.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH ALLIANCE SPINE AND PAIN CENTERS?

From the anesthesiologist to the assistants, everyone is phenomenal! They show an incredible level of professionalism and hard work in the way they handle us as patients. The nurses, Philip and Ashley, are so involved and thoroughly research your personal case. Mary at the front desk is great too. I can’t say enough about the staff in Cartersville. They are absolutely wonderful!

WHAT LESSON DO YOU WANT THOSE READING YOUR STORY TO LEARN?

Don’t be afraid to look for opportunities. Try new things to improve your health so you can live a better life.

HOW ARE YOU DOING NOW?

I have resumed much of my normal lifestyle. I chop wood and spend time outside. I’ve even been able to paint the exterior of my entire house, along with other significant building and home improvement projects. I can now play golf again after stopping about a year ago because of the pain.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I am a retired Marine Corp and married with two daughters. I have a granddaughter that keeps me busy. We moved to Cartersville so we could be closer to our family and enjoy living in the “country” on a small, private lake.

I’ve always been extremely active! I love construction projects and riding my motorcycle. Golf is my passion, but I also do Origami!
