Medical Staff Spotlight: Dr. Ike Okpareke Always Keeps Dedicated Patient Care His Top Priority

Dr. Okpareke was an interventional pain specialist in Chicago prior to relocating with his family to the Atlanta area to join Alliance in early 2022.

Learn more about Alliance physician, Dr. Ikenna Okpareke, who completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Chicago and his fellowship in chronic interventional pain management at Rush University Medical Center. Then, he was an interventional pain specialist in the Chicago area prior to joining Alliance in early 2022.

Along with his wife and children, Dr. Okpareke has returned to Atlanta where attended Kennesaw State University for his undergraduate degree. Keep reading to get to know Dr. Okpareke.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN PAIN MANAGEMENT?

The pain management specialty is hands-on, multi-faceted patient care. It has a reasonable work/life balance. Also, I enjoy the daily application of basic science, pharmacologic, technological, medical and surgical knowledge.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?

Seeing patients’ smiles from their relief after treatment is very rewarding. I love to hear about their functional improvement on follow-up visits.

WHAT HAS REALLY STOOD OUT ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING AT ALLIANCE?

You can feel real passion and engagement in our patients’ care, which is why I love my staff. Alliance is a well-structured and organized company, and it’s reflected in our quality patient care.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE HOPING TO WORK IN YOUR FIELD?

My main advice is to keep your work environment fun while maintaining respect for your patients and co-workers. Dedicated patient care should always be the top priority.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PAST-TIMES?

I love traveling and outdoor activities, especially mountain biking and hiking.
